Memorial Garden, Scapa Flow

A memorial was put in place by the HMS Royal Oak Association in 2010 and rests in the memorial garden at Scapa Harbour, next to the memorial building. Wreaths are laid during the service of remembrance on every anniversary of the loss of HMS Royal Oak. 


The Hard, Portsmouth

To commemorate the 85th anniversary of the loss, a memorial of similar design to that at Scapa Harbour was unveiled outside the entrance to HM Naval Base, Portsmouth on 6 October 2024 by sons and daughters of men and boys who lost their lives in the sinking of HMS Royal Oak.


St. Ann’s Church, HM Naval Base, Portsmouth

A stone plaque was unveiled by HRH, The Princess Royal, on 5 October 2019 at the service of remembrance in Portsmouth to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the loss of HMS Royal Oak. 


National Memorial Arboretum

A stone memorial was put in place by the HMS Royal Oak Association for the unveiling of Heroes Square at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire in 2016. The stone complements the tree at the National Memorial Arboretum which was put in place by the HMS Royal Oak Association following the opening of the Arboretum. 


Portsmouth Naval Memorial


 The memorial commemorates around 25,000 British and Commonwealth sailors who were lost in the two World Wars. The memorial features a central obelisk, and includes the names of the men and boys lost on HMS Royal Oak, inscribed on bronze plaques arranged
around the memorial according to the year of death.
